Handpainted Skulls
The medium used for painted skulls is mainly buffalo and steer although almost any wild animal skull may be legally obtained and used. Paintings depicted on the skulls are a wide variety of symbols dating from the early Anasazi up to modern day interpretations. Paints used are natural pigments when obtainable and other modern mediums. Skulls are decorated with handpainted simulated eagle and hawk feathers or legally obtained natural feathers. Glass beads and leather are used for the trimmings. Prices range from $250 to $1500 depending upon type and size of skull.
